AL SADD coach Jesualdo Ferreira expects his team to be mentally and physically fit in the remaining eight rounds as they battle for the Qatar Stars League title.
“We need to show physical and mental fitness so that we can win the remaining matches. It’s tough, but we’ve the mentality to win,” said Ferreira. “I expect the team to be without injuries to complete the campaign.”
With just three points separating his team from Lekhwiya, Ferreira, who replaced Housseine Amouta in 2015-16 season, is desperate to claim his maiden league crown.
“We’ve been playing well except in a few matches, particularly the defeat against Lekhwiya. But we must not drop points and also hope Lekhwiya slip up. The players are motivated to win this time. We’ll fight till the end,” he added.
On his team’s win against Al Gharafa, Ferreira said, “It’s always good to win against a strong side. All the goals came from some excellent efforts. Baghdad (Bounedjah) returned after 25 days national duty. Though he wasn’t in his usual form, he created pressure on Gharafa defenders.”
Meanwhile, the Portuguese welcomed the return of attacking midfielders Khalfan Ibrahim and Hassan Al Haidous.
“It’s good to see them back in training. Once they’re fit, they’ll join the squad. That’ll strengthen the side,” he said.
