EL QUIYADA beat Al Arabi 22-21 in an edge-of-the seat thriller in Association Cup at the Qatar Handball Association Hall last week.
Pivot Borja Vidal was the star of the show for Quiyada in the match, where the teams were level 7-7 at half-time.
Vidal, a part of Qatar’s dream run to the World Championship final at home in 2015, used all his experience to turn the tide in his team’s favour as pendulum swung both ways.
The 34-year-old, who joined Quiyada from French club HBC Nantes three seasons ago, is vindicating the faith the management has in him.
Elsewhere, Al Rayyan beat Al Sadd 32-29 and Al Ahli prevailed over Al Wakrah 34-29 while Qatar SC pipped Al Gharafa 29-28 in a nail-biting finish.
