QATAR overcame Jordan 3-2 in a friendly played in Zurich, Switzerland, last week as part of their preparations for the 2018 Asian Zone World Cup third and final round of qualification.
Experienced striker Sebastian Soria, who plays for Al Rayyan, netted a hat-trick for Daniel Carreno’s side and proved he would be Qatar’s main threat when they take on strong contenders Iran in their opening Group A match in Tehran on September 1.
China, South Korea, Uzbekistan and Syria are the other teams in the group while Iraq, Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Thailand are in Group B.
Qatar will take on Uzbekistan in Doha on September 6.
Qatar will play one more friendly, against Thailand, on Thursday before they fly to Tehran.
