Qatar’s Magour looks to gain more experience

JAVELIN thrower Ahmed Bedir  Magour is the latest Qatari to confirm his presence for the Doha Diamond League meet, to be held at the Qatar Sports Club Stadium on May 5.

The 21-year-old, who had set a personal best of 84.74 to make the Rio cut, will be aiming to use the meet to gain further experience on his road to the World Championships in August.

But Magour has his task cut out as the fray includes Rio Games gold medallist Thomas Rohler of Germany and Kenya’s reigning world champion Julius Yego.

Magour joins a long list of Qatari athletes — high jumpers Mutaz Essa Barshim and Mohammad Hamdi, triple jumper Rashid Ahmed Al Mannai, sprint sensation Femi Seun Ogunode and his brother Tosin, promising 400M hurdlers Abdulrahman Samba and Mohammed Shai, 400M runner Mohamed Nasir Abbas, middle distance runners Hamza Driouch and Saeed Aden, and 3,000M runner Yaser Salem Bagharab.
