DOHA: Qatar Stars League CEO Hani Taleb Ballan has been elected as a member of the new FIFA Referees Committee, which was composed last week.
Hani has several years' experience of holding many important positions in the field in both the Qatar Football Association and Asian Football Confederation.
The main function of the Referees Committee is to advise and assist the FIFA Council in the field.
In accordance with the reform package approved by the Extraordinary FIFA Congress in February, 2016, the standing committees have been reduced from 26 to the following nine: Governance Committee, Finance Committee, Development Committee, Organising Committee for FIFA Competitions, Football Stakeholders Committee, Member Associations Committee, Players’ Status Committee, Referees Committee, and Medical Committee.
The new members were appointed by the Council on the proposal of the member associations, the FIFA president and the confederations.
