QATARI shooters Ahmad Zayed Al Shammari, Mohammed Nasser Al Yafei and Rabea Al Kuwari clinched 25M rapid fire bronze, their second medal, at the International Shooting Sport Federation’s Junior World Cup for rifle, pistol and shotgun events in Gabala, Azerbaijan, last week.
The Qatari trio fired a tally of 1,661 points to finish behind India (1,725) and Australia (1,702). They had earlier won bronze in 25M standard pistol event.
Al Shammari led Qatar’s charge and finished with a creditable 569, which placed him sixth in the individual performers’ list as well. He was followed by Al Kuwari, who shot 549, while Yafei secured 543.
A total of 300 competitors, representing 27 countries, battled for honours in 15 Olympic and three non-Olympic events.
