Doha: Qatar made a sensational start to their campaign in the Pool A qualifiers for the 2018 World Volleyball Championship in Italy and Bulgaria with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory against South Korea.
Qatar, coached by Italian Massimiliano Giaccardi, started the game in Tehran, Iran, in disastrous fashion, losing the first two sets 25-21, 25-15.
But they then started clawing back into the match and won the next two sets 25-21 25-18 to draw level at 2-2.
The scores were tied at13-13 in the deciding set, but Qatar won the next two points to take the match.
Qatar take on China on Friday, Kazakhstan on Saturday and hosts Iran on Monday.
The winners and the runners-up of the five-team league tournament will qualify for the finals to be held in Italy and Bulgaria in 2018.
