QATAR were drawn along with champions France, runners-up Denmark, Egypt, Slovenia and Sweden in Group B at the International Handball Federation’s (IHF) Junior World Championship, to be held in Algeria from July 18 to 30.
Six teams each were drawn into four groups for the IHF biennial competition. The draw was held at Basel, Switzerland, last week.
Qatar had ended up ninth — their best-ever finish — at the last edition held in 2015 in Brazil, where France beat Denmark 26-24 in the final.
Qatar will fine-tune their preparations for the biennial event by having a fortnight-long training camp in Spain next month.
“It’s a World Championship and all teams look strong on paper. In our group, we’ve the world champions and runners-up. After seeing the draw, all I can say is we need to work hard,” said Qatar’s manager and former IHF referee Youssef Mohamed Alhail. dsp
