Copenhagen, Denmark: Qatar defeated Egypt 28-23 to bounce back right into contention after their initial setback at the World Handball championship being held in Denmark and Germany.
Qatar had lost to Angola in their opening match in Group D, but on Sunday at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, they were largely untroubled against Egypt. Youssef Benali top-scored with nine goals while Frankis Marzo added six and Rafael Capote helped himself with five for Qatar who lead 15-12 at half time.
Qatar’s next match is against Hungary, who defeated Angola 34-24. In the third match in the group, Sweden thrashed Argentina 31-16.
Only the top three teams from the four groups will qualify for the main round of the competition.
