Doha: Osama Omari’s composed finish in the 65th minute and Bruno Gallo’s penalty 10 minutes later helped Qatar Sports Club come from two goals down and hold Umm Salal in the QNB Stars League on Saturday.
Umm Salal were off to a flier, opening the scoring in the third minute through Yannick Sagbo while new signing Oussama Darragi made it 2-0 in the 20th when he turned in Mahmoud Almawas’ cross as Umm Salal were cruising at halftime.
But Qatar SC came back strongly in the second period and fully deserved the point.
The draw helped Umm Salal consolidate their fourth place with 28 points, just two above fifth-placed Al Gharafa while Qatar SC are eighth on 19.
In another match, a brace by Kwame Karikari and a penalty from Diego Jardel helped Al Arabi beat Al Markhiya 3-1. Leo Mineiro scored for Markhiya who remained at the bottom of the table with 12 points.
Arabi are ninth with 18.
