Doha: The Qatari Weightlifting and Fencing Federation (QWFF) signed a deal with Italian Fencing Federation (FIS) and Aspire Academy on the sidelines of the FIE Epee Grand Prix for men and women here on Sunday to develop the sports in the country.
“This partnership with will allow the Qatari fencers to compete in top class competitions in Italy that can surely develop their performance,” Apire Academy Director General Ivan Bravo told at a Press conference.
The three-day tournament, which is being hosted by QWFF at the Aspire Dome, feature some of world’s best fencers.
“We saw few young Qataris from the Aspire Academy compete against the best in the FIE Epee Grand Prix here. This shows the sport is moving in the right direction,” said FIS President Giorgio Scarso.
