Doha: Qatar Football Association (QFA) president Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al Thani met with the Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports Abdulhussein Abtan and the Iraq Football Association (IFA) chief Abdulkhaleq Masoud at the QFA headquarters in Al Bidda Tower on Wednesday.
The meeting was also QFA Executive Committee Member attended by Ahmed Al Buainain General Secretary Mansoor Al Ansari QFA President office Executive Director Ali Dawood and Executive Director of Strategy and Institutional Development of the QFA Mushtaq Al Waeli.
The Iraqi delegation’s visit to Doha highlights the distinguished relations between the QFA and the Iraqi sports family, especially with the IFA. It also underlined a longstanding relationship and an upcoming period of football-related projects that will flourish in the near future.
During the meeting, they discussed issues of common interest, the importance of activating them and means of developing them in the coming period, in order to serve the football system in the two countries and activate the terms of the joint cooperation between the two associations.
There were also talks on the bilateral relations between the two associations and prospects for strengthening and developing them to serve the game in both countries.
The QFA and IFA recently signed a five-year cooperation agreement as an extension to the initial deal made in 2015. The agreement includes many aspects related to football development and means to enhance the role of both associations in order to serve the game in both countries.
