Doha: A five-day International Cycling Union (UCI) Level 1 coaching course concluded at the Qatar Olympic Academy on Monday, with 20 new coaches attended the programme.
UCI trainer Scott Budgen conducted the course, which was organised by the Qatar Cycling and Traithlon Federation (QCTF) in co-operation with UCI.
“The programme wasn’t only a key moment for QCTF, but also a legacy of the inspiration provided by the 2015 World Championships. We are very happy to have new coaches who can help grow the sport,” said QCTF President Dr Mohammed Al Kuwari.
The course consisted of different modules from basic training principles to nutrition.
“I would like to congratulate the QCTF for hosting this course, which is a first for Qatar and a concrete legacy of the 2015 UCI Road World Championships in Doha. The Worlds inspired a new wave of popularity for our sport, and these newly-qualified coaches will play a key role in developing cycling throughout the country,” said UCI President David Lappartient.
