Doha: South Korea’s reigning Olympic champion Park Sang-young left an indelible impression of his skills by winning the men's epee title at the Qatar Grand Prix here at the Aspire Dome on Sunday.
He defeated compatriot Jung Jin-sun 3-2 in the final.
Earlier, the 22-year-old dispatched Italy’s Paolo Pizzo 15-13 in the first semifinal while Jung, who won a team gold at the 2006 Doha Asian Games, overcame another Italian Andrea Santarelli 15-11 to set up an all-Korean final.
Meanwhile, Romania's Ana Maria Popescu beat Italian Mara Navarria 10-6 to take home the women's crown.
The three-day tournament, which is being hosted by QWFF, featured some of world’s best fencers.
The Grand Prix is being held since 2004 and is regarded as one of the top events in International Fencing Federation calendar.
