QATAR’S Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah remained in the driving seat with an 8min, 53sec lead over Poland’s Jakub Przygonski after the third day of Rally Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
Though Yazeed Al Rajhi won the stage, the Saudi Arabian driver had incurred substantial time penalties on the second day which rules him out of contention for the event, the fifth round of FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies.
Driving an Overdrive Racing Toyota Hilux, Nasser and his French navigator Matthieu Baumel had a lead of 3min, 39sec over Przygonski after the second day. The duo extended their advantage further to put them on course of victory.
In the support category, delays in the sand dunes cost Qatar’s Adel Hussein Abdulla a lot of time although the Nissan Patrol driver retained his second position behind Yasir Saiedan of Saudi Arabia. dsp
