AL ARABI’S professional player Taylor Sander played a key role in their 16th Qatar Cup volleyball triumph last week as he bombarded Al Rayyan with his lethal smashes en route to scoring 21 points in the final. The outside hitter, who was a member of America’s bronze medal-winning side at last year’s Rio Olympics, enjoyed his maiden stint in Qatar and has promised to return if he gets a chance.
How would you sum up the Qatar Cup triumph?
It was a great win on my debut with Arabi. In some matches, we couldn’t do well in the middle stages, but we were able to finish strongly. I think, overall, we maintained a high level.
Your take on the sport in Qatar.?
The standard is quite good and I would be happy to come back if I’m invited again. I like travelling. Being in another country and experiencing a different culture is something that I enjoy.
How do you spend a day off?
Eat good food and then relax on the beach side! I would also like to sing in the car and dance around the house!
