EL JAISH coach Sabri Lamouchi showered praise on his players after they secured the AFC Champions League berth for the first time.
“I’m happy that we’ve reached the semifinal for the first time,” said Lamouchi.
“I want to thank the players for the great effort they showed. We’ve reached the last four and that was our target for the competition. We wanted to come here and win, and that’s what we’ve done.
“We were lucky in the second half as Al Nasr failed to score despite attacking us and that gave us the win,” added the Frenchman.
Meanwhile, the Jaish contingent, headed by club’s general secretary Khamis Al Kuwari, will leave for Al Ain on September 25 for the away-leg semifinal two days later.
Brazilian defender Lucas Mendes will return to the side after serving a one-match suspension and that will be a big boost for the defending Qatar Stars League runners-up.
Jaish had defeated Al Ain by an identical 2-1 margin in both legs when they faced off in the group stage of the competition.
