Doha: Hosts Kuwait became the first team to crash out of the Arabian Gulf Cup when they lost 0-1 to Oman for their second consecutive defeat in Group A.
Ahmed Kano scored the winner for Oman, slotting home a penalty in the 58th minute, and even though Kuwait fought valiantly for an equaliser, their forwards could not take the chances that came their way.
Kuwait had lost 1-2 to Saudi Arabia in the opening match while Oman lost to the UAE.
Earlier on Monday, Saudi Arabia and UAE improved their chances of qualifying for the semifinals when they played out a 1-1 draw. Both teams are on four points, but the Saudis lead the group after having scored one goal more than the UAE.
