DOHA: Goalkeeper Jassim Al Hail turned out to be saviour for Qatar Sports Club after he saved a late penalty against Al Wakrah to help his side settle for a goalless draw in the Qatar Stars League on Friday.
Following a goalless first-half, Wakrah spurned the opportunity after Al Hail denied Mohamed Benyettou from the spot following a VAR review.
The Qatar SC shot-stopper dived low to his left to ensure a point for Qatar SC, who now have 15 points while Wakrah have 16.
The match was fought tooth and nail, but both the teams missed a lot of opportunites and failed to convert with Wakrah enjoyed the lion’s share of attempts on target.
Neither Khalid Mazeed or Benyettou failed to deliver the knockout punch as Qatar SC keeper turned out to be a tough nut to crack.
However, the best chance fell to Qatar SC which saw Wakrah keeper Hassan Idriss came up with one of the finest saves in the league.
Ahmed Doozandeh powerful shot was tipped onto the post in spectacular fashion by Idriss to stave off the danger.
