EL JAISH overcame Al Arabi 86-68 for their 17th win in the Qatar League and to move closer to the title.
At the Al Gharafa Indoor Hall last Sunday, Vernon Leon Macklin top-scored for the winners with 27 points while Davon Dominique James and Irfan Saeed chipped in with 21 and 15 respectively.
Jaish, coached by Hatem Mamlouk, are unbeaten and have 34 points, one more than Al Gharafa, whom they meet on Friday in what could be the title decider. Arabi (28) are third.
Jaish had downed Gharafa 87-78 in the first phase and if they can repeat the feat, they will be crowned champions. If the Soldiers lose, then the title will be decided through a play-off.
For Arabi, Talla Gueye Momar netted 17 while Adako Emmanuel Osaro and Ndour Mame Souleye scored 14 each.
“I felt happy with our performance. We look forward to win our last game against Gharafa,” said Mamlouk.
