FOR world champion Tim Gajser, the Motocross’ opening round in Qatar did not go the way he would have wanted. The Slovenian finished third in Race 1 and second in Race 2 at the Losail Motocross Track. The 20-year-old did not lose heart and exuded confidence about the season ahead.
How did the opening race go?
We had a really good winter, got a new bike from Honda and tested a lot. I did my best in Qatar and I’m happy to start the season with a podium in both races. I’ll try to forget the pressure and ride in my natural way in the upcoming races.
Who has been the biggest influence on your career?
My father for sure! He was a racer, and when I was two-and-a-half-years old, he put me on a bike and that’s how I started. He still gives me advice.
What’s so special about Motocross?
The travelling that exposes riders to different cultures.
You’re a big hero in your country…
Yeah! Slovenians are incredibly passionate about the sport. It’s easy to see the Gajser fan club at every nook and cranny!
