WTA Tour Finals winner Dominika Cibulkova is a happy and chirpy character. The world No.5 from Slovakia had a good run last year, winning four titles and reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinal.
The 27-year-old, in Doha for the ongoing Qatar Total Open, spoke about her off-season and interests.
Your thoughts on the tournament…
I haven’t played in Doha in a while. Every time I came here, it was mostly after Fed Cup. So I was really tired. This is the first time I’m coming here with good preparation. It’s great to play here in Doha and after that in Dubai.
How did the off-season go?
I didn’t have much time to reflect on last season. Now, it’s a new year. Time flew really fast.
Your favourite shot and surface…
I prefer clay courts and swing volley is one of my best shots!
Valentine’s Day came during the tournament. How did you celebrate it?
I didn’t have any special celebrations. I always get some small cute gift, so that was quite good!
