The international basketball federation (FIBA) unveiled the official 2017 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup logo through its social media platforms on Wednesday.
The competition will be held in Bengaluru, India, from July 23-29.
The logo was designed to reflect three key elements — India, basketball and Bengaluru city. They are represented through India’s tri-colour in flames covering a basketball, with the Ashoka lion — India’s official emblem — sitting on the peak of Vidhana Soudha, the Government of Karnataka building which is recognised across the world for its architecture.
Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, North Korea, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand and the Philippines are the Group A teams who will battle for the cup and bragging rights.
Meanwhile, the Group B teams Sri Lanka, India, Lebanon, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, American Samoa and Fiji will hope to clinch and earn promotion to Division A for the 2019 edition.
Both the participating teams will be divided into two groups of four teams each and play three matches in their respective pools.
