Doha: The visiting FIBA Asia Regional Office evaluation and educational staff inspected the facilities for the 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifying matches, which will be played in home and away format.
Qatar is in Group D with Iraq, Kazakhstan and Iran and scheduled to play three home and as many away matches.
“We visit host nations to help them meet and prepare for the FIBA event. We also reinforce the federation’s obligations and responsibilities,” said FIBA Asia’s Sport and Competitions Manager Marc Missirian. “FIBA is an international brand. It’s important not only to deliver quality games, but also maintain standard.”
Qatar will play their first match at home against Kazakhstan on November 24 followed by three consecutive away games before returning home to meet Iran and Iraq on June 29 and July 2 respectively.
