WORLD No.1 and defending champion Mohamed El Shorbagy has confirmed his entry for the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Qatar Classic tournament, to be held at the Khalifa International Squash Complex from November 13 to 18.
Qatar’s leading player and ASPIRE Academy product Abdullah Al Tamimi has been given a wild-card entry for the $150,000 prize-money tournament, the third stage of PSA’s Road to Dubai.
Also returning to Doha would be El Shorbagy’s nemesis Ramy Ashour.
The former world No.1 would be looking to put his injury problems behind him as he eyes a first Qatar Classic crown since 2007.
The field also includes reigning world champion Gregory Gaultier of France, runner-up Omar Mosaad of Egypt, his compatriot and rising star Karim Abdel Gawad and three-time world champion Nick Matthew of England.
The qualifying stages will be held on November 11 and 12, with the tournament proper getting under way a day later.
