Doha: Qatar will take on China, Palestine and Ecuador in friendlies in September and October as they prepare for the Asian Cup to be held in the UAE from January 5 to February 1.
Qatar are placed alongside Lebanon, North Korea and Saudi Arabia in Group E of the continental competition.
Qatar, coached by Felix Sanchez, will take on China on September 7, Palestine on 17 and Ecuador on October 2 in friendlies.
Sanchez said the team, which underwent a camp in Austria, is preparing in earnest for the Asian challenge.
“The team atmosphere is very positive and an enjoyable one,” Sanchez told the Qatar Football Association website in an interview.
“Things are developing as planned. The players have responded well to my plans.
“There are fitness drills and then there is football action in double training sessions. This is a great opportunity to build the right momentum moving forward. The coming days and weeks and even months will be used appropriately to build player fitness and confidence,” he said.
Things are very good and we are a positive bunch in Austria. The players are very excited. They are doing very well. They are in good shape and they know the importance of this training camp,” Sanchez said.
