POLAND’S double Olympic and world champion hammer thrower Anita Wlodarczyk, who is in Doha for a three-week training camp, interacted with students of the ASPIRE Academy, giving them valuable insights.
The 31-year-old, the first woman in history to throw the hammer over 80M and currently holds the world record of 82.98M, spoke about her goals for the season and her interests off the track.
What are your impressions on the ASPIRE Academy and its students?
It’s my first visit to Aspire since 2008. There’s no doubt that the academy offers some of the best facilities in the world. I held training sessions with the student-athletes. I was thrilled to share my experiences with the young athletes. I hope my words inspire them and I look forward to seeing them compete in Olympics.
What does it take to succeed in your sport?
The aim should be to improve with every throw. I was convinced that I could throw over 80M and finally that came true.
Do you follow any other sport?
I like Motorcycle Speedway a lot. It’s one of the most popular sports in my country.
