CHAMPIONS Al Arabi roared back to winning ways by notching up two consecutive victories in the Qatar League last week.
After a rousing start to the season, Arabi had suffered a dip in form and lost back to back against Police and Al Rayyan. But the 25-time league champions defeated Al Sadd 25-20, 25-18, 25-21 and followed it with a 25-19, 25-16, 25-23 win against Al Wakrah to bring their campaign back on track.
Against Sadd, professionals Leandro Visotto and Miguel Dalmanu gelled well with local players Juma Faraj and Seif Lemjid as Arabi dominated from the word go.
“Good to see our team back to where they belong. Those two defeats had severely dented the confidence of our side. But the victories have lifted the players’ morale. Hope we can keep the momentum going,” said Arabi coach Mawia Alajnaf.
In other matches, Al Ahli twice came from behind to beat Qatar SC 22-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-18, 15-6 while Rayyan had it easy against Al Gharafa 25-15, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22.
