Doha: Al Rayyan continued their impressive form in the Qatar League to beat Al Arabi 3-1 and thereby landed a severe jolt to the title aspirations of their arch-rivals.
Rayyan, who have been in top form since the start of the season, now lead the table with 41 points after their 25-20, 19-25, 25-17, 25-23 at the Qatar Volleyball Association Hall on Tuesday.
Reigning champions Police, who defeated Al Wakrah 25-21, 25-21, 25-18, are second on 38 points.
Arabi are way behind in third, with 33 points, and their title hopes now look as good as over.
Arabi take on Police in a must-win match for both sides on March 26 while Rayyan take on Qatar SC on the same day.
