ALI MOHAMMED Al Kuwari was elected unopposed as the new president of Qatar Shooting and Archery Association (QSAA) at its general assembly held in Losail last Monday.
Al Kuwari, who was the general secretary at the QSAA, succeeded Mohammed bin Ali Al Ghanim Al Maadeed, who did not contest after completing three four-year terms.
Al Maadeed, under whom Qatar scaled new heights including Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah’s historic bronze at the 2012 London Olympics, has been made the Honorary Chairman of QSAA in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the sport.
Al Kuwari, an administrator of proven calibre, was one of the key personnel behind the successful organisation of 49th CISM World Military Championships recently.
“It’s a great honour for me to take over as the president of QSAA. I hope to build on the success of my predecessors and take our sport to greater heights,” said Al Kuwari.
Meanwhile, Majed Al Naimi succeeded Al Kuwari as the general secretary. He holds a similar position at the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation.
Hussein Saleh Al Sada has been named as the assistant general secretary while Abdullah Ali Al Mutawa Al Hammadi and Abdulrahman Abdullah Al Maliki are the new Board members.
