Doha: Despite managing just one win from nine games in the QNB Stars League, Al Gharafa captain Luis Jimenez exuded confidence ahead of their match against Al Arabi on Thursday.
“Both teams will be hoping to do well, but we’ll put our best efforts to win the match. And that’s so important for all of us,” said Jimenez, who had joined Gharafa this season from Arabi. “We aren’t under pressure to win the league shield. Our main objective is to build a strong team for the future.”
The Cheetahs are currently ninth with seven points and have just one victory, which hasn’t gone down well with their fans.
“I understand they want us to win every match, but that isn’t possible. We’ve to build on the positives and avoid making mistakes,” added the skillful playmaker. “Many young players joined this time as the club wants to build a strong squad for the future. You can’t focus on having a good team and also win titles at the same time.”
