AL AHLI are planning to sign former Asian Player of the Year Khalfan Ibrahim from their Qatar Stars League (QSL) rivals Al Sadd.
The 29-year-old, who won the Qatar Football Association’s best-player award after helping Sadd win their last league title in 2012-13, did not even figure in the team list for the Emir’s Cup final against Al Rayyan last week.
Ahli believe the diminutive player has plenty of football left in him and want him to be their special player as they look to improve on their 10th-place finish next season.
However, it has also been learnt that Sadd are eager to keep the attacking midfielder at the club and help the Qatar international come back as they look to regain the QSL shield and impress in the AFC Champions League. DSP
